PUFFING CRESTS

No expectation is the best when packing a mountain rucksack. Nature always knows how to surprise you!

The walk starts from Località Due Pozze and from there the destination looks really lost in the middle of nowhere. The path follows the routes 51 and 658, twisting and turning through the Mont Baldo West side.

The vegetation changes over the climbing. Light green hazelnut bushes, give way to beech forests and finally emerald meadows. Closer to the top, superb white Carlina Acaulis flowers can be spotted and mislead the innocent hiker with sharpened spines, soft to the eye.

And there you go, after one-hour climbing, the spectacle is waiting for you: blue sky, green pastures and only caws' and bees' sound around.

Reaching the crest is like opening a huge gift box. It's a surprise that appears suddenly and unwraps at each step.

The view is breathtaking and the eyes cannot contain it all. Walking along the narrow path, on one side the Adige Valley and on the other side the Garda lake, the feeling is to dominate with the gaze the whole North Italy.

Being on the very top, the wind brings cool breeze from the west, from the lakeside, and warm air from the East, the side that wakes up earlier.

Reaching the Chierego lodge is the best reward: enjoy the stunning view of the lake, while eating one of its superb homemade cakes.

Hiking a mountain and finding a "puffing volcano". The mountain keeps puffing smoke like a roof, letting the little visitors enjoying the show.
